Thursday Bolts - 10.30.08

  • Thunderguru on last night's game: "As for the actual contest that was played, the headline here could easily be titled: “Thunder starters stink, bench makes it fun”. The opening lineup was Petro, Collison, Green, Durant and Watson and they played like a D-league team. Coach thankfully put Wilcox in for Petro halfway through the first, and started double teaming Bogut in the post, but the tone was set and we were in the hole by 10 points after the first quarter. We shot 25% to their 45%, were out-rebounded and had 5 turnovers."
  • Blue Blitz: "The key to revitalizing the starting lineup here might be benching Earl Watson. While he and Westbrook had the same amount of assists, Westbrooks driving actually helps the Thunder. Watson will sit at the top of the key, hardly creating any ball movement. Westbrook will drive the ball down to the post, and create opportunities for guys like Chris Wilcox, Desmond Mason, and Joe Smith. His method isn't perfect, but every indication I'm getting now is full steam ahead for Westbrook."
Highlights from last night's game:

David Stern after last night's game:

  • Jenni Carlson on Kevin Durant's less than stellar game: "On a night that Oklahoma City will long count as glorious, Durant had a game that was anything but. He had an utterly forgettable first half, missing every shot he attempted, scoring no points, rolling up fouls and turnovers but not much else. His woeful start helped sink the Thunder into a halftime hole from which it never recovered."

Dude, It's going to be a long, ugly season- but I sincerely think we will be a team to be reckoned with next year. I am going to content myself with watching Westbrook (I LOVE that kid), Durant and Green's maturation and looking forward to our off-season acquisitions. My biggest disappointment so far has been our head coach. In addition to looking for us to sign Boozer, draft Rubio and bring Ibaka home from Spain, I'd like to see Presti take a stab at hiring Avery Johnson this June. Don't let all the Seattle Trolls get you down- I think the site looks great. Eventually the Trolls will work their way through the five stages of grief and get back to stalking their old girlfriends.

'Fraid not. I'll be here on a daily basis, ridiculing A) your terrible, terrible team; B) this pathetic excuse for a website; C) your morally-bankrupt owners; D) the fact that BenditLikeBennett beat you in a poll for best OKC blog!

BTW, KD and Jeff Green become free agents in 609 days.

whoa be careful about avery johnson. He looks cool but it worries me that after he left Dallas it came out that almost all the players were upset. Almost NONE of them liked him.

but at least no one tried to choke him ...

That was probably just the weed talking. Seriously though, I heard the same sort of criticism of Coach after he left New Jersey- and look what he's done with the Hornets. I think veterans feel priviledged and resent hard driving coaches. I'd like to think our crop oh younguns would respond like the Hornets did.

Seattle still won't have a team in 608 days....

I bet Seattle wins another NBA title before OKC gets its first.

And I'll bet Seattle gets a new NBA team and wins a championship before the Mariners, or the Seahawks, or the Huskies, or whatever Washington State calls itself wins a championship. Jesus, you guys suck. I've heard of flouridation. Is it possible the state of Washington is putting estrogen in the water by mistake?

Funny. How are OKC's MLB and NFL teams doing?

they're 0-0. Better off than Seattle's
