I know, where will you go now for some guy's Thunder basketball commentary or to post countless comments spewing hatred towards Oklahoma City? Well, just keep doing it here I guess.
I am going deer hunting with my family and I'll be gone until next Wednesday. I can't wait. Deer hunting has been a Young family tradition since 1948 so this year will be 60 years of it. Awesome. And this will be year 18 for myself. Deer camp to the Young family is one of the very most important things to us. My father actually said to my mom on their very first date: "How would you feel about maybe never spending Thanksgiving with your husband?"
She said, "Why?
He said, "Because I go deer hunting with my family."
That's what it's about for us. It's something that's literally just part of our blood. Family, friends, fire, food, guns and lots and lots of Oklahoma football talk. Trucks stuck in the mud. Getting on a four wheeler at six in the morning only to have the cold air knock your breath out when you take off. Rehashing the same yearly stories of years past, but loving them more and more each year. Spitting in the dirt. Talking with a little thicker country accent than you actually have. Sitting in a tree stand with just you, nature, a rifle and your thoughts. Nothing beats it. Lord, I love it.
I'll actually be making a possible reappearance Saturday because I'll be making the drive back to go to the OU/Tech game before waking up early Sunday and going back down.
In case you're wondering, we go hunting in Cloudy, Oklahoma. It's in the southeastern part of the state, just a little south of Antlers and a little north of Idabel. It's roughly three and half to four hours from Norman. It's public land. We don't use feeders. The land isn't stocked. This is real hunting. Brush so thick you couldn't shoot a bullet through it. Dirt roads and terrible cell phone reception. If you even get lucky enough to see anything, that's an accomplishment in itself. But that's what makes it so satisfying when you get the job done.
So anyway, I'll be back next week to talk it up and hopefully the Thunder will give me a nice surprise with a win in the left-hand part of that column. Take care and go Thunder. Well, go as much as they possibly can.

HAHAHA!!! This is great work. Kudos to whichever Seattleite hacked into Royce's account and posted this hilarious parody of the typical OKC resident.
"Sitting in a tree stand with just you, nature, a rifle and your thoughts. Nothing beats it. Lord, I love it."
That was the best part. Nothing like enjoying the sheer beauty of the natural world...and then annihilating it with my rifle.
What? Cow tipping isn't good enough for you? I really hate sophisticated Oklahomans who think they are better than cow tipping on Thanksgiving. Don't worry loser, we'll supply the reading material for your beloved Blunder.

Deer hunting? Jesus. You slack jawed yokels sure do make it easy to stereotype you.
You are an Okie, you will be out of touch for your entire life.
I'd love to count how often the N word gets casually thrown out on this hunting trip.
Actually, no I wouldn't.
Which will happen first: Thunder sold to out of town owners or KD bolts for a bigger market?
Talking about marriage on a first date is creepy. its in your blood i guess.
"That's what it's about for us. It's something that's literally just part of our blood."
Do you know what literally means? There is actually deer hunting in your bloodstream? I'm creeped out.
Here is a better Thunder blog with astute analysis and biting commentary:

You Seattle guys are pathetic.
Look, I'm not really from Oklahoma. My Parents are native to Chicago, and I was born in London, United Kingdom. But, I've lived here for most of my life and I've come to respect these things. I mean, it's not my bag or your bag, but why do you have to make fun of them for it?
In fact, in recent years, hunting has decreased. As a result, many animals are starting to overpopulate the earth. They are coming into cities, on the roads, and endangering peoples lives in general. Royce is doing a service by killing some of the animal population off before this gets out of hand.
I mean, I'm sure you guys have family traditions. And I'm also sure that there are people in the backwoods of Eastern Washington who have the same tradition that Royce does....except maybe without a Ford F-150 and a country accent.
Oh well....I don't think you guys will ever relent.
Yeah, we do have people like that in Eastern WA. And we make fun of them relentlessly.
I can't count the number of times I was called a "latte-sipping, tree-hugging fa*got" back when you guys were in the process of stealing our team, so I think a little retribution is fair game.
You're still a latte-sipping tree-hugging ******!
I don't think that name calling in place of name calling is warranted. Personally, I've never said anything negative about the people of Seattle. They deserve a team just as much as we do.
But, the fact is, the team is here now, and I'm going to cheer for them. What, do you expect me to boo them or something? They're here for the long haul.
Seattle doesn't deserve a team. They can't afford it. Which means no new team and Clay can keep his 30 million....meanwhile back in Seattle, WAMU went belly up and the whole state is in BIG, BIG, trouble...
State's projected budget deficit: $5.1 billion
Figure is nearly $2 billion more than was predicted 2 months ago
By AMY ROLPH
P-I REPORTER
Washington's projected budget deficit has ballooned to $5.1 billion, nearly $2 billion more than predicted just two months ago.
"This will be ugly," said Rep. Ross Hunter, D-Medina, chairman of the House Revenue Committee. "It's much larger than I expected it to be."
Already, the governor is slashing spending this year by hundreds of millions -- including a statewide hiring freeze and across-the board spending cuts. And state agencies -- maybe most notably higher education -- have been asked to start planning for cuts as high as 20 percent.
Tax revenues are expected to drop $1.9 billion below the state's former projections, meaning a possible doomsday for some programs -- and substantial belt-tightening just about everywhere else.
" it's not my bag or your bag, but why do you have to make fun of them for it?"
Okies are the same people that thought it was funny to make jokes about New Orleans and Katrina. Picking on some hick about hunting or poking fun at the dead night life in OKC is hardly up to Katrina jokes.
While some of us were rebuilding our homes and lives and needed our NO Hornets board to connect with family and friends they littered our board with hateful posts about our city and how they wished Katrina would have just completely destroyed NO so they could "keep the Hornets".
Tell me, which is worse? Making fun of hunters or people suffering in the days and months following a massive natural disaster?
I seriously do not expect you to answer, but remember this when you see the jokes and insults.
I remember the okies going after New Orleans following Katrina. They deserve everything they get.
Q: How will you remember the time your franchise spent in Oklahoma City?
George Shinn: I felt like I was in very deep water and could have drowned. But this wonderful ship came by called Oklahoma City, picked up (my wife) Denise and I, picked up everybody that works for me, embraced us, helped us, supported us and helped us through two years of very troubled times in our lives. And whenever we did put our foot back down on the ground in our home city, we were able to start running instead of being disadvantaged or hurting or financially in a drain. So as long as I’m able to take a breath in my lungs I will be so grateful to the wonderful people in Oklahoma that supported us during those two years. It’s an experience I just will never forget, the city and particularly the wonderful people in it.
Chris Paul mentally circled Nov. 21 on his calendar much like many basketball fans in Oklahoma did on the August day the NBA schedule was released.
The Hornets guard was just as eager to return to Oklahoma City as the city was to welcome him and his Hornets teammates back to the Ford Center for the first time tonight against the Thunder.
"This might have been the game that I looked forward to the most,” Paul said. "I’m too excited about coming back to Oklahoma to play. I’ve been trying to write in my mind when they introduce us for the starting lineup how the fans are going to react."
"For the guys on our team that had an opportunity to play in Oklahoma, it’s going to be a lot of emotions going on. We loved it there"
What a wonderful week for sports in the Oklahoma City metro.
Monday night we got to watch our NBA team go down and play the Houston Rockets
Tuesday night we got to see two first team college All-Americans battle each other in a war of top twenty basketball teams in Norman as OU beat Davidson.
Wed. we got to watch OUR NBA team host the L.A. Clippers in the Ford Center.
Friday we get to watch our former NBA team come to town to battle our new NBA team in what is sure to be a very historic and memorable night for all at the Ford Center.
Saturday we get to watch the two Heisman frontrunners lead their teams in an epic battle of two top 5 teams to see which will earn the right to continue on their quest for a National Championship in front of 85,000 crazy fans in Norman.
If there's such a thing as sports heaven, it's got to be right here in OKC.
Meanwhile in Seattle.....
THE APPLE BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
the one part slade left out:
he still has to live in okla-fucking-homa.
good thing you have all those sports distractions to help you forget your miserable existence....
Gee, does anyone expect squeaky clean Chris Paul or "tell them what they want to hear" Shinn to say any different to the okies?
Man you okies are rubes. If it makes you feel better to read inane quotes from CP and Shinn then you better save them and read them everyday because everyone else is calling out OKC as a joke of a pro city.
CP and Shinn quotes? LOL
Kevin Durant says Thunder have 'unbelievable' support in OKC
Q: How goes the move?
A: Pretty good, actually. I'm loving Oklahoma City. I was just telling that to my teammates last night at dinner. It's a great town. It's quiet, the people are nice, the fans are unbelievable, and that's what we need as a team. It goes a long way with us that the fans are there every day, whether we are winning or losing. I'm glad we made the move.

You guys want to see something funny, check this out...Some interesting facts about this weekends "APPLE BOWL"....LOL
Washington and Washington State are a combined 0-20 against major colleges. The only win gnashed out was Washington State over I-AA Portland State.
Consider that there are 119 major college football schools and then consider these national rankings:
* Total offense: Washington (117), Washington State (118).
* Scoring offense: Washington (117), Washington State (118).
* Total defense: Washington (110), Washington State (112).
* Scoring defense: Washington (116), Washington State (118).
The schools are so evenly matched they have each scored 139 points this year.
Washington has been outdistanced 399-139 to Washington State's 533-139.
First-year Washington State Coach Paul Wulff, who played in the Apple Cup with the Cougars, thinks the game is important but does not wipe out weeks of state-of-Washington misery.
Oddsmakers have set the "over-under" at "call me when it's over."
@ slade the dull blade: Ever heard about this little thing called PR and spin? I know this might come as a shock, but a VAST MAJORITY of the time ANYTHING you hear from a public business-person, entertainer or, gasp, athlete is watered down, trite nonsense because they cannot afford to piss of fans (or their sponsors or their egotistical front office, or the television networks, etc.) because fans pay for EVERYTHING in sports - and heaven forbid they might actually insult someone or say something controversial. Sure, you'll always have the Shaq's and T.O.'s of the world, but you'll always have more vanilla, middle-of-the-road guys because that's where their money is.
Just because a player says they like where they are now or are excited to go on a certain road-trip isn't an indictment of the city they were or are in now. You can like more than just one city where you have lived or worked. One doesn't necessarily have to be better than the other. And to try to always find a reason to show that someone likes one place - your city - better for whatever validation reasons you have is weak and screams of inferiority complex. And, for the record as someone from San Diego (just so you know I'm not inherently biased towards one of the cities or another), who has been to OKC, Seattle and New Orleans, I can honestly say that Seattle and New Orleans are 2 of the absolute best places in this country (and for N.O. one of the greatest places in the world). Seriously. However that doesn't mean OKC isn't nice in it's own way. In fact if Bible-belt ubiquitous is your cup of tea I'm sure it's utterly fantastic. But, you see, that's just one person's opinion and there are millions of other opinions out there, so why put much stock into them. So just sit back and enjoy your NBA franchise and stop trying to validate whatever little-man/little-brother complex you have going on by trying to infer that CP3 or Durant or whomever like your little part of the world better and thus their current/former cities must really suck in comparison.
I know exactly what you mean by spin, elle. Several of the players last year had nice things to say about Seattle, when in light of the fact that actual turnstile attendance in Key Arena was under 10,000, they had to hate playing in a half empty, outdated arena.
Good call...
Whew, these Seattlites are so comically predictable. Now, they're vainly, weakly attempting to say 'spin' only is spun on one side of a story. And of course that's the side they don't like, or the side they want to somehow distort because it flies in the face of their self-deluded, fragile civic image and in supportive of Oklahoma City. If they were to actually come up out of their parent's basement and do some traveling, they would learn the Pac NW isn't the only place with great lifestyles. But then, They're way too immature to admit such a thing - after all, that wouldn't be in keeping with the ill-informed posts they litter about.
Really guys, who's naive??
Instead, they choose to engage in selective memory, and continue telling each other lies that make them giggle. Sort of like lighting farts. But, what else are they supposed to do? Even they can tie-dye only so many tee shirts, or braid/rebraid their dirty, lice infected grunge hair.
Enjoy watching the NBA on teevee, boys.
Today in class my teacher made a subtle joke about incest and then followed it up by saying "Sorry if there's anyone from Oklahoma in the room." I'm not even kidding.
Everyone in the NBA loves OKC. You guys didn't know this but without OKC the NBA would fold. That's right, the league would go under without OKC.
How do I know this? Okcnbafans..com told me so.
Royce is going to have so many comments when he comes back this is awesome.
-Bear.
bear,
are you a top, bottom, or power bottom?
CP and Shinn say those things because they know Okies are dumb enough to believe it.
I like to drink at Thunder games. I like to drink when it rains. I like to drink when it's daylight, dark, hot or cold. I like to drink with my boyfriend Shawn Rooker.
Doug Loadonback
Slade, you strike me as that guy who is the last one to leave and will need to turn the lights out. You're a dumbass okie-fukin'-homer. It'll be funny tonight watching all you Okiefags showing up in your Hornets gear to cheer on the visiting team over your own. Complete fuking morons. Have a nice day, bitch.
To the poster immediately above - cut it out. Let's not stoop to their level with f*g references and such.
I was a long-time Sonics fan and have spent a little less than half my life in Washington state and a little more than half before that in the South. I know folks are different in many ways and folks don't understand and have to agree about everything. But I try to start from a position of basic underlying respect & a good deal of tolerance though I think that can be a little lighter than respect.
It is regrettable that some of the exchanges between basketball fans go to state based sniping.
I think you can be partisan about the move of the quality of or the prospects of the team without that.
But things aren't going to be totally smooth and generally you just have to ignore as much you wish and respond to as much as you think you must or is worth your time.
Good luck to the Thunder fans. This Sonics fan doesn't wish you ill even if I have criticized ownership and management for one reason or another mostly elsewhere. I will probably give it up at some point but I guess I still had some parting shots towards them.
I should have said tolerance toward views or behaviors doesn't have to be extended as far as basic respect of the other person and their right to be who they are and believe what they do. I think it is ok to challenge viewpoints and even though I am not easily offended by a little mustard I generally think it is unnecessary and can easily be overdone.
It has gone both ways, inevitably.
Maybe someday OKC and Seattle can do the straightforward competitive thing on a pro basketball court instead.
Why didn't the OKC fans cheer the Blunder on to victory tonight like they used to do with the Hornets?
I think the Blunder are going to have the worst record in NBA history. 8-74 is my prediction.
EMPTY AT THE END!!!!!
Come on OKC, why did so many people leave in the 3rd quarter? This was a historic night. Your beloved Hornets were there and you couldn't even stay to watch them win. I heard Chris Paul cried in the locker room after the game because so many people left.
Nobody left during the third quarter, although you might think that if you're forced to watch on TV because you don't have a team anymore. The crowd started filing out with about 5 minutes left in the game.
If half of these trolls had actually supported the Sonics, they might still be in Seattle.
PJ's gone. PJ was hired to lose in Seattle, not win in OKC. I'm surprised it took this long. They should have left him in Seattle with the rest of the losers.
"If half of these trolls had actually supported the Sonics, they might still be in Seattle."
I would think that by now you would have wised up enough to avoid making these comments. The argument that the Sonics left because somehow Seattle didn't care is going to look awfully stupid when the Thunder's attendance starts to dwindle. I know that you are guaranteed to have decent attendance every night this year because so many season tickets were sold. But people are already deciding that they would rather stay home than watch the Thunder. You cannot even sell out your own damn building in your franchise's inaugural season! You are proving what we already knew, which is that THERE IS NO CITY IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY THAT WILL SUPPORT A CRAPPY TEAM.
No one was there at the end of the game to cheer for the Hornets. Poor things. I'm an old hag, but I'd still jump on CP3's jock if I could.
Signed,
Jill
"Nobody left during the third quarter, although you might think that if you're forced to watch on TV because you don't have a team anymore. The crowd started filing out with about 5 minutes left in the game."
I wasn't forced to watch it on TV, I have the pleasure of not living in OKC so you could say I had the honor of watching okies leave in the 3rd quarter.
Spin it however you okies want, for the last 45 minutes of real time during the game the place was about as full as an okie's head after taking the GED. If you are too stupid to realize that it happened during the the 3rd quarter then I can't help you. But do know this, OKC looks like a joke today and will again until the Thunder relocate.
I think Tim Floyd would be a perfect Coach to take PJ's place. He could come in and not disturb the losing culture thats already in place.
OLYMPIA -- Friends and foes of House Speaker Frank Chopp will tell you he's a kindhearted do-gooder who cares more about poor people than pro sports.
Chopp said House Democrats have a long wish list but have expressed little interest in the Seattle bid for a taxpayer-subsidized arena.
"Let's get real here," Chopp said. "As far as I know, NBA players don't have a lack of health insurance, they've all got health care, and the last time I looked at the Key Arena basketball court, it didn't have any potholes on it."
THE NBA CAN BUILD THEIR OWN ARENA OR SAY GOODBYE TO SEATTLE FOREVER!!!!!!
Tim Floyd would be perfect for both OKC and the Thunder! Make it happen Clay, Tim is perfect for your "franchise" and the okies really won't know any better.
Anyone catch Berry's article today? He asked that Clay couldn't have picked a worse time to fire PJ, he said he needed to wait until during the week and Clay should have also leaked the news.
Berry is lazy, Clay is a heartless bastid, and the okies are rubes for giving away their tax money to Clay.
Have fun, Royce. It's been a few years since I've been to Cloudy, but I'll bet there are plenty deer to be had.
I hate the Thunder and wish them nothing but the worst luck, but...I actually have a good feeling about Scott Brooks. Loved his attitude as a player, and heard nothing but good things about him when he was with Sacto. I think Presti hired him as an assistant with the expectation that he would be the head coach by the end of this year. He doesn't have much to work with considering the terrible talent on the roster, but I do expect some improvement.
Slaughtering innocent animals is one of the most important things to you? I'll bet it's right up there with having sex with your relatives.
As PJ is undoubtedly being hired by ABC/ESPN or TNT as we speak, I can't wait to hear how he REALLY felt about the Sonics being ripped away from Seattle.
C'mon PJ, you'll never get another NBA head coaching job. Don't hold back on your thoughts about moving an NBA team to the most racist, dirty, and boring "city" in the US. Can't wait! :)
Thunder actually looked pretty good tonight- I'm liking our new coach already. Royce, for the love of God, next time you leave say you are going on an anti-whaling mission with Greenpeace. The whole hunting thing got the trolls all riled up. You HAVE to remember that they are very sensitive- so ixsnay on the untingsay from here on out.
Hey we looked much improved... just one day into the Brooks Administration... i'm liking that kind of effort... that will beat alot of teams most nights in the NBA
The Blunder suck. OKC sucks. The fans suck. Outside of all that you guys are doing just fine. Lifetime losers and their loser team all together in hell on earth. It's a perfect match.
The battle for worst team in college football, also known as the "apple cup" went into overtime today (how funny is that, you can't make this stuff up) wlth the univ. of washington claiming the title by losing to Div. 1 AA foe Washington State.
Here's what ESPN had to say about it...
PULLMAN, Wash. -- The most rotten of Apple Cups produced one of the most unbelievable, exciting conclusions in the history of the series.
The stunned Huskies remained the only winless team in the country and need an upset of California on Dec. 6 to avoid the school's first winless season since 1890.
Washington State won the Apple Cup for the fourth time in the last five years for the first time in the series' history.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
An Okie out of touch. Whats new?
I hear P.J. is moving someplace where he'll never have to hear about basketball again, so he's headed back to Seattle.
Hey, asshole, I just read one of your posts that you want to wait three years and then make a play for the Hornets. Dude, you are a fucking loser, and you are right, the whole fucking country is laughing at and hates OKC. Fuck you. lol assholes.
This is funny. You know the old saying "ignorance is bliss"? OKC must be a blissful town right now. I won't knock you for trying to look at your team, fans, owner, and city in postitve light, but how foolish do you sound tryiung to knock others cities or teams? You foklks are in fucking dust bowl and now you think you are big time because you have an already failing team?
Guess what New Orleans and Seattle don't need a major sports franchise or a college football team that chokes in every BCS game to make us legit.
So good luck eating your cake.
Look's like Ballmer is about to offer Shinn more money than he can turn down for the Hornets because they have the easiest lease to get out of. I don't mind getting their team because they stoled them from Charlotte and they're not supporting them anyway.
Did evertbody see all the empty seats on TV Saturday night for the Thunder game?
The writing is on the wall...
"Guess what New Orleans and Seattle don't need a major sports franchise or a college football team that chokes in every BCS game to make us legit."
What do you have or what do you need to make you legit then?
"Look's like Ballmer is about to offer Shinn more money than he can turn down for the Hornets because they have the easiest lease to get out of."
LOLOLOLOLOL
Shinn wouldn't sell to Clay, what makes you think he is going to sell now?
BALLMER HAS 20 TIMES MORE MONEY THAN CLAY CLAY AND 100 TIMES MORE MONEY THAN SHINN. DO YOU THINK THE NBA WOULD SAY NO TO STEVE FRICKEN BALLMER??????SEATTLE IS THE 12TH LARGEST MARKET IN THE NATION AND THE GATEWAY TO ASIA!!!
IF BALLMER WANTS THE HORNETS, THEY ARE HIS FOR THE TAKING....SHINN CAN'T AND WON'T SAY NO!!!
Oh well, if you are going to put it in all caps- it must be true. Just out of curiosity- what is your source for this Brian? Please tell me you are not using a blog for your source- because that would be really pathetic.
Bullshit. It's been called. Time to move on.
Not to state the obvious, but that's not the real Brian Robinson.
Anonymous, how do you know unless YOU'RE the real Brian Robinson!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!???!!??!??!??!??!!?!?!?!??!?!??!??!
If Ballmer has so much money and such strong connections to Stern why doesn't he just purchase the league?
anyone think the Sonics have a chance tonight against PHX?
Hell, on any given night- who knows. I am delighted by all of Brooks' moves so far (KD to the 4 spot, Petro on the bench)- maybe these guys are ready to win one now that PJ is gone. If Brooks would just go ahead and give Westbrook the starting nod, I would have nothing on the coaching end to complain about anymore.I am going to be there yelling my lungs out. Go THUNDER!
Go to hell Thunder. Wait, you already did.
MWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA
Take that, yokels. Heartbreak on a bun.
Oh shucks! So close! Will have to go kill some deer to take my anger out.
Thunder looked really good out there. Nice ball movement, good team defense. KD is obviously improved playing out of the 4 spot, and the crowd was fantastic. I really hate to break it to you trolls- but this team is starting to come together. Next year we are going to be for real- just wait.
The team will be much like your city. No matter how hard they ever try they will never be major league. Congratulations on learning how to be better losers.
Doug Load-On-Back is hailing this as the "new beginning".
Right. Keep drinking, old man. Keep drinking.
Is KD really playing at the 4??? How the hell is he going to guard an NBA PF?
OK, never mind. Just read the story on newsOK.com. Hey Steve H - 4 means power forward. KD is now playing SF. I thought OKC had the best basketball fans in the world???
Typed 4- meant 3- get over it. Still intrigued at idea of trying to land Kamen if the Clippers are really shopping him now that they have Camby. Wilcox, Sene or Swift and San Antonio's first rounder next year? Quality centers are hard to find.
wow...
you guys really have nothing better to do?...
Thunder looked good... Ford Center was electric...
laugh at us now... we all know who will have the last...
Do you have anything better to do?
All hale Scott Brooks. Under his wisdom and leadership, the Thunder ship has been righted! Under PJ, Cleveland would be beating us by 50 instead of 40.
Yo, Royce! Come back! I miss you!
Scott Brooks for Coach of the Year!!!
1-15.
