True, we didn't sellout every game. But we had a miserable team and a carpetbagging owner. You, on the other hand, have a brand new toy and you STILL can't sell out home games! Attendance at the Minnesota game (#2 home game in franchise history!!!) was 1,000 below capacity. Come March, the Team Formerly Known as the Sonics will only be drawing 10-14,000 fans - no question about it. It's only a matter of years before the "Thunder" join the Grizzlies, Bobcats, Kings, and Bucks as small market teams looking for a new home.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042165194672261405.post-21503097044639199912008-11-06T20:53:00.000-06:002008-11-06T20:53:00.000-06:00Seriously though watching Durant is no fun. The latter makes no sense, especially considering some of the comments I see on here from people in Seattle.

And posting comments is considered passion? I guess that's why no one showed up to those Sonics games last year, they were too busy showing their passion for the team by reading blogs. What great fans.

- "Grossman"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042165194672261405.post-16498106696459070112008-11-06T20:08:00.000-06:002008-11-06T20:08:00.000-06:00PS - are you a little embarrassed that SonicsCentr...PS - are you a little embarrassed that SonicsCentral.com still gets about 20X the Thunderworld's daily comment volume? We don't even have a team in Seattle, but we're still more passionate/knowledgeable about the NBA than you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042165194672261405.post-76448793435975256962008-11-06T18:57:00.000-06:002008-11-06T18:57:00.000-06:00I think point 2 and point 5 are the salient points...I think point 2 and point 5 are the salient points of the article Royce. He's in a unique situation. I don't think a player in recent memory, of such a young age and high draft location has been dropped into the "go to guy" mode on a very crappy and young team like this before. At least not that I can remember. Kobe and Tmac were both brought along much slower than Durant. Each of them didn't get big minutes until their third year.

P.J.'s offense is very vanilla. It is just set a pick and see if there is a pick and roll. If not, pound, pound, pound (dribbling). ok, somebody launch a jump shot.

I will say it again. I watched Portland the other night and there was so much movement without the ball, and swinging it around the circle over and over and back cuts and give and go's and all sorts of stuff to create mismatches and open shots. The offense here is pure jumpshot or one on one drives. No post ups and kick outs, no movement without the ball, no double screens. I think that is why Desmond is not having that great of a year offensively; he's not a jumpshooter and this offense doesn't suit him.

Nice Royce.

JoeJoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02975938637404152782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042165194672261405.post-75638273031533369502008-11-06T18:00:00.000-06:002008-11-06T18:00:00.000-06:00"He's only playing 34 minutes a game...Why is Dura..."He's only playing 34 minutes a game...Why is Durant not getting 5-10 more minutes on the floor? Think about it: Five minutes is almost half a quarter. That much time Durant could easily add two more buckets and be averaging 22 ppg and no one would be saying a word right now."

Let me get this straight. If you increase his playing time by 14.7% (from 34 to 39 mpg), he can easily increase his scoring by 22.2% (from 18 to 22 ppg)??? Congratulations Oklahoma public education.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042165194672261405.post-14458296804027691972008-11-06T17:39:00.000-06:002008-11-06T17:39:00.000-06:00You nailed it completely Steve.I fear Durant is go...You nailed it completely Steve.I fear Durant is going to be like other superstars in the league - when they aren't getting their points, they don't want to do the other stuff. He needs to rebound. I forgive him a little because he's technically playing the two.

The thing is, Durant is a good shooter. At Texas, he was lights out. But a lot of it was because he was getting good looks off guard penetration. He's not really getting that now. And I think Westbrook can give it to him.

I honestly think he'd be better suited in the three and Green move to the four. Green could stretch most other fours and drive past them. And what you said about Westbrook is so true. The more time he gets, the better he gets.Royce Younghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05279711598725120512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042165194672261405.post-69184657877130836942008-11-06T16:58:00.000-06:002008-11-06T16:58:00.000-06:00You made some really nice points on both KD (I rea...You made some really nice points on both KD (I really like"Kid Delicious"-hope that catches on)and Westbrook. I was a little harsh in my post after last game, and need to remind myself he is still just a kid and learning the ropes. Your observation that he is scoring WITHOUT any sort of decent ball movement was something I had not considered. With all that said, I was mighty disappointed in the lack of effort I saw from our franchise player last night. 6'9", averaged 10+ rebounds per game his freshman year a Texas, and only grabs 2 boards in 30+ minutes? PJ or Mason or maybe his mom need to sit the young man that is the future of our franchise down and talk about what it takes to be great in this league. As for Westbrook, it is idiotic to be giving Watson more minutes on the floor than him. We won't suffer at all in the short term, and the more PT he gets- the faster he will mature.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
